Under the agreement, AD Ports Group will develop a dedicated quay wall and an assembly yard as well as provide the needed manpower and logistical equipment.
AD Ports Group signed an agreement on Monday with Eni Abu Dhabi, the Dubai-based subsidiary of the Italian multinational oil and gas giant to establish a marine logistics base at Mugharraq Port to support offshore drilling operations in the Al Dhafra region.
Supporting offshore operations
Under the agreement, the group will develop a dedicated quay wall and an assembly yard as well as provide the needed manpower and logistical equipment. Moreover, the agreement allows Eni Abu Dhabi to utilise the port’s modern infrastructure and strategic location as well as its proximity to the region’s offshore oil and gas facilities to support the company’s operations.
“It is a great pleasure to welcome Eni Abu Dhabi, a major player in the global energy industry, who leads several offshore operations around the world, to join our flourishing industrial maritime community within the Al Dhafra region,” AD Ports Group Head of Ports Cluster, Saif Al Mazrouei said, highlighting that “by utilising the industry-leading infrastructure and service capability that we have on offer at Mugharraq Port, Eni will be able to operate in proximity to its offshore drilling facilities and enhance operational efficiency.”
Major developments
The port has undergone extensive developments over recent years, with considerable investments from AD Ports Group to boost its logistics infrastructure and further enhance its capacity to meet the rapidly evolving offshore oil and gas sector needs.
“With enhanced capabilities to serve the GCC’s oil and gas market, as well as the recent recognition as an international port facility, Mugharraq Port is now well equipped to meet both the regional and global requirements of the Middle East’s leading energy players,” AD Ports Port Director- Al Dhafra region, Mubarak Al Mazrouei said.
ISPS certification
The port was recently recognised as an international port facility by the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure as per the guidelines of the International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS Code). As part of its new status, Mugharraq Port is now able to receive and service international and local vessels.
