Fast-growing forwarder Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has appointed Nils Smedegaard Andersen as its first new board member and chairman of the board.
Andersen is the former chief executive of Carlsberg and of shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk, where he held the top job for nine years.
“SGL has transformed from a local and predominantly Scandinavian company to a globally recognised player in the transport and logistics industry,” said Andersen.
“I look forward to working with SGL to continue building an exciting and successful company through great service to our customers.”
SGL said Andersen is “known for his drive and is described as a result-oriented leader”.
The forwarder’s global chief executive, Allan Melgaard, said: “Nils has achieved impressive results in his career and has the necessary knowledge and capability to help us fulfil our ambitious strategy of becoming one of the preferred providers within the industry.”
In 2022, SGL generated $3.5bn in revenue and aims to reach over $5bn within the next few years.
Since 2017, SGL has delivered organic growth above market level and together with more than 30 acquisitions, the efforts have resulted in annual revenue growth of 33% during the period.
The appointment comes after private equity fund CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII (CVC) recently became majority shareholder of the company.
